MARTINA LANG

Martina Lang is a contemporary artist and artistic researcher working with controlled detonations, explosions, concrete, destruction, and physical constraint.

Her practice moves between installation, performance, participatory art, and experimental forms of artistic research. She creates situations in which bodies, materials, and decisions are put under pressure and in which an action, once initiated, cannot simply be undone.

Destruction and the point of no return become artistic methods for exploring uncertainty, dependency, responsibility, and asymmetrical power relations. Situated at the intersection of climate change, wicked problems, culture, and power, her work asks what happens when knowledge no longer guarantees control, when consequences become irreversible, and when the possibility of not acting has already passed.

Through physical and often unpredictable interventions, Lang investigates the fragile space between knowing and doing, control and loss of control, individual and collective agency.
